Molly and Patrick were married on January 16th, with a ceremony at St. Rosalie’s RCC of Hampton Bays and a reception at the Atlantic Aquarium of Riverhead. It was a stunning Atlantis Riverhead Aquarium Wedding.
Pat and Molly met at Cowfish in Hampton Bays (where they also had their rehearsal dinner!) and were only together for 6 weeks before she moved across the country for graduate school. 3 months later, Pat joined the military, and they continued their relationship long-distance for 2 years. He proposed at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, where they often went on runs.
Molly and her mom planned most of the wedding while Pat was servicing our country militarily, and it was wonderful to see their little touches everywhere. Family was a unifying theme throughout the day, with Molly wearing a ring designed from the diamond in her grandmother’s ring and she also sported her grandfather’s watch, while Pat wore his grandfather’s engagement ring.
The wedding had a very relaxed feel to it and that speaks volumes about Molly’s personality. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were told to wear whatever was comfortable, so everyone was already in the right mood to have fun. Then, they stopped at two of their favorite bars between the ceremony and reception, and everyone had a blast hanging out with each other. Pat is a total crack up, and he made the day so much fun for everyone. Pat just had to look at Molly and she always responded with a sweet smile.
They got a school bus to take them between the ceremony and reception, too, so everyone was together the whole time! One of my favorite images of the night was when Molly put on her backpack to go out and decorate her wedding bus. It’s not every day I see a bride shoulder a backpack over her dress—but that’s what I love about Molly. She’s confident, interesting, and calm. She just does what Molly does.
I was glad to get some pictures of the family, bridal party, and bride and groom down at the bay, too. The wind was calm, the sky was pretty, and the moments they shared were real. Their pug also got in on some of the pictures.
The best moment of the night, though, was when Pat picked Molly up like they were in Dirty Dancing. Those two really know how to have a good time! The night ended with an amazing treat truck from Godfather Catering.
Molly and Pat, I’ll always remember the laughter and the smiles, the robot dance moves, the backpack, and the fun you shared with everyone. I had a blast at your wedding. Thank you for hiring me. Love, John
